The wooden honour roll those who served in World War One.

The unveiling of the Wattle Flat State School's honor roll took place on the 28th March; the ceremony being an interesting one. Mr. K. Howard occupied the chair. After the singing of the National Anthem, the following ladies and gentlemen contributed a most enjoyable programme of songs and recitations: Miss Sharp, Dean, overture and song; the Misses Frazer, Dean, pianoforte duet; Miss Frazer, song; Mr. Calistro, Creswick, two splendid recitations; Mr. Richards, Bullarook, two songs which were encored; Mr. W. Rickey, Dean, solo. The unveiling of the honor board was performed by Mr. Bacon, head teacher of the Dean High School.

In an effective speech Mr. Bacon showed what the worthy sons of Britain had done in the past, and what the boys whose names were on the honor roll were doing at the present in fighting that we might live in freedom,  He stressed the point that we should do our duty and help to win the war. Twenty-six names are on the roll, with a vacant corner for any who yet may volunteer. Votes of thanks to the performers and those who had assisted were proposed by Mr. T. Shaw, and seconded by Mr. T. O'Hehir. A splendid supper was provided by Reid's, of Ballarat, and served by Mesdames Howard, Pierce, and Cook, and Misses Kelly and Pierce. A number of people from Dean, Clark's Hill, Pootilla, Bullarook and Glen Park were amongst those present.
