Taree RSL MemorialPrint Page
The water feature commemorates those from the Manning District who have served in conflicts in which Australia has been involved.
The memorial consists of a polished dark grey marble fountain with a large naval propeller as its centrepiece. Plaques around the edge of the fountain perpetuate the memory of those of the Manning District who served. It is located outside Club Taree's entrance.
Following the amalgamation of the Taree RSL and Taree Golf Clubs, Leighton Contractors worked with the new Club to masterplan its future needs in line with its new business and constructed stage 1 under a design and construction contract.
The work carried out under Stage 1 included a new three storey building, linked to the existing golf club house, featuring a member’s lounge, gaming lounge, pool tables, TAB and sports bar, kitchen and bistro, a coffee lounge, a bottle shop and administration areas. Function space was provided in refurbished areas of the original golf club house. The car park was extended to accommodate 140 vehicles and upgrading of the access road was undertaken.
Leighton Contractors also built a memorial water feature and garden on the site, thus preserving the spirit of the Returned Services League.
