Townsville Grammar School War Memorial OvalPrint Page Print this page

The Townsville Grammar School War Memorial Oval was originally dedicated to those who served in World War Two.

In 1995 the Memorial Oval was re-dedicated during the VP (Victory in the Pacific) 50th Anniversary Celebrations.  In 1998, a Lone Pine tree was planted on the Oval to acknowledge the five students and one teacher who lost their lives at Gallipoli.

During 1948, plans and specifications for the reconstruction of the Sports Ground as a Memorial to Old Girls and Old Boys who served in the war were drawn up. The full plans entailed the construction of three fields, as sports areas, and a pavilion.
