The Community Centre was erected as a War Memorial to commemorate those who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.
Plans of the proposed community centre war memorial for the Spring Bay Municipality were submitted to a public meeting at Triabunna. A billiard room, library, meeting room, and canteen are incorporated in the design and possibly new council chambers. The estimated cost of the project is £9,000. The Warden (Mr.G.Meredith) said the committee had raised almost £1,000 in less than 12 months. The plans were unanimously accepted
