The cenotaph was originally erected to commemorates those from King Island who served in World War One and lists the names of those who died in service or were killed in action. 

The names of those who died in service or were killed in World War Two were added at a later date.

Erected by the residents of King Island

As a tribute to the men who enlisted

And in memory of those as engraved hereon who made the supreme sacrifice in the Great War
