Koorda War Memorial commemorates those who served in World Wars One and Two and Vietnam.

On the 11th April 2015, 3 additional plaques were unveiled at the war memorial listing the names of those from the district who served in World War One, World War Two and Vietnam.

The memorial originally erected to commemorate those who served in World War One was unveiled by Lieutenant-Governor Sir James Mitchell on the 10th December 1933. The service and dedication were conducted by the Venerable Archdeacon C.L.Riley in front of a crowd of 300 people.

More than 200 service men and women have been recognised in a Wheatbelt shire in Western Australia in the lead up to Anzac centenary commemorations. The Shire of Koorda has unveiled three new plaques to honour those who served in World War I, World War II and the Vietnam War. The plaques, located at the town's war memorial, list the names of service men and women who were either born or enlisted in Koorda.

Shire spokeswoman Lana Foote said the project took at least six months but said it was worth it. "It's a great [and] honourable thing for the town to do," she said. "We wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for them and some of them have given up their life and made the supreme sacrifice."

WWII veteran and Rats of Tobruk president J.J. Wade was at the unveiling, along with long-time Koorda resident and WWII 2nd 32 Infantry Battalion serviceman Henry Patty Alford.

"It might be the last time they get to be part of a such a big event like this," Ms Foote said. "It's close to their hearts I can imagine and just a nice way to honour their service to the country."

The Shire chose an outdoor location for the plaques so people passing through the town were able to visit them.
