The monument commemorates those who died in service or were killed in action in World Wars One and Two.

The site outside the Kronkup Post Office was chosen because of its central position to the surrounding districts. It was relocated from the front of Kronkup Post Office in November 1981.

Elleker - Youngs War Memorial. A site for the memorial was selected by the Committee at Torbay Inlet in 1947 with a plan to make the surrounding area a better picnic and sporting ground. With donations received by the public, an order had been placed with Messrs. Hartman and Sons, Albany for the erection of the monument.

Elleker - Torbay War Memorial. The matter, of the Memorial for the fallen in the Second World War has now reached a stage when the Committee require a complete list of names and initials to be placed on the Memorial. A list has been compiled by the secretary and the Committee would be glad, if any names have been omitted, that the secretary be notified as soon as possible. 

The position chosen for the Memorial in the first place has been spoilt by the destruction of the flood gates at Torbay Inlet, and suggestions have been received by the committee for the church yard at Kronkup as a suitable position. However, the Committee do not like choosing the position without the opinion of the public, so a public meeting is to be held in the Kronkup Hall on Saturday, November 5, at 3 p.m. (in conjunction with a church afternoon).   Also, the Committee have come to the conclusion that it would be suitable to place, the names of the first World War fallen on the Memorial and to do this it will cost a little extra, so, further donations are asked for from those who have already subscribed, and also anyone who has not yet subscribed can do so through the Secretary, Mr. W. G. Brainbridge, Kronkup.
