The hall commemorates those have who served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.

The foundation stone was laid on the 10th January 1953 and the hall was opened on the 26th October 1953.

Describing it as the best form of memorial the Minister of Agriculture  (Sir George Jenkins) opened the Willowie Soldiers' Memorial Hall yesterday. The chairman of the building committee (Mr. L. K Wood) said that the building would open free of debt, thanks to many local gifts and collections. Many fittings were given and gifts of free labor were estimated to have reduced the cost of the building from £7,000 to £4,250.
The Advertiser (Adelaide), 27 October 1953.
