The hospital commemorates those who died in service or were killed in action during World War One and World War Two.

The hospital was officially opened on the 13th August 1951.

A start was made on the building of the Cummins and District Memorial Hospital on March 7. The new contractor, Mr. R. J. Buddle of Port Lincoln, expects to pour the foundations within a day or two. The ceremony of laying the foundation stone will be performed on Saturday, April 1, by Mrs. H. J. Blacker, whose work in the beginning made the hospital possible. A special function is being arranged for this occasion. Donors of grain from the 1940-50 harvest are :— Mr. P. .F. Minhard, 10 bags of wheat; J. Crettenden and Sons, 10 bags of barley, and the following correction, K. and M. and Patricia Blacker, 50 bags of barley.
