Avenue of HonourPrint Page Print this page

An avenue of trees commemorates those who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.

The avenue comprised of Sugar Gums (Eucalyptus cladocalyx) planted to commemorate the World War One and Two.  Originally between 45 - 50 trees were planted for the World War One and twenty-two trees for the World War Two, today there is only one row (9) of Sugar Gums remaining.

The soldiers’ avenue bids fair to be one of the best in the district. The young trees are making vigorous growth, and the avenue has a very attractive look. It would be a further honor to our soldiers if tree planting were extended. There is ample, room in this district for a little public spirit.
