The Memorial Pipe Organ was dedicated to the memory of pioneers of the former St Andrews Presbyterian Church and to those connected with the church who died in service or were killed in action in World Wars One and Two.

The Book of Memory records the history of the Memorial Pipe Organ. It includes the names of all who served in the First and Second World Wars, noting especially the men of the parish who made the Supreme Sacrifice. The pioneers and past members of St. Andrews are also remembered. Many friends have taken the opportunity of giving their contributions in commemoration of their own beloved dead. Every organisation within the Church co-operated with the special committee freely and generously - their names and membership therefore form part of the story. This book was the gift of the teachers and children of St. Andrews Presbyterian Sunday School on the 26th September 1954. This book was handwritten by Mr. R. G. Pettett.

At the end of World War Two, the idea that a pipe organ would be an appropriate memorial to the pioneers and the men who made the Supreme Sacrifice in the First and Second World Wars.  On May 10th 1943, after learning that her son had been killed in battle, and to perpetuate his memory, a bereaved mother, who was a member of the Church, gave a sum of money, on receipt of which, the Rev. R. W. Stephens introduced the idea which was approved by Session and Board, that the gift be held in trust as the commencement of a Fund for the purpose of providing a memorial in the form of a pipe organ to be erected within St. Andrews.
