The memorial gates commemorate those from the district who died in service or were killed in action during World War One and World War Two,
The gates were restored in 2017 and an additional plaque was added to the gates on the 17th April 2021 in memory of Private Thomas Cohen who was killed in action during World War One and lay in an unmarked grave at Templeux-le-Guérard British Cemetery in France. His unmarked grave was identified in 2020.
