Loxton RSL Memorial Room & Centenary of ANZACPrint Page Print this page

The Loxton RSL Memorial Room, the Mural, and a carved soldier "at rest" commemorate the centenary of ANZAC 2014 - 2018 and those who served in World War One and a century of service by the Australian Defence Forces.

The Loxton RSL and Districts Memorial Room was officially opened on Sunday 16th September 2018 by His Excellency, The Honourable Mr Hieu Van Le AC, Governor of South Australia.

The Memorial Room is a collection of military memorabilia donated for display and safe keeping. In the Memorial Room you will see Honour Rolls from Loxton and some of the townships nearby, showing the names of those who enlisted in both WWI and WWII, many of whom paid the ultimate sacrifice; mannequins dressed in Wartime uniforms, medal displays, military badges and many photos. Outside you will see an amazing mural, battle machinery, and "Cliff", our soldier at Rest, who was carved from a Norfolk Island Pine tree which was grown close to where he stands.

The Centenary of ANZAC 2014 to 2018 was an important period of national commemoration for Australia. Marking 100 years since our involvement in World War One, the ANZAC Centenary was a time to honour the service and sacrifice of our original ANZACs, and the generations of Australian servicemen and women who have defended our values and freedoms, in wars, conflicts and peace operations throughout a Century of Service.
