St Marys Primary School ANZAC Memorial GardenPrint Page
The Memorial Garden commemorates those who have served in conflicts in which Australia has been involved.
The garden features a cenotaph, as well as seats and a number of trees which were planted by representatives of the Beaudesert RSL Sub Branch and students.
Funding of $4546 was received in 2018 through the Armistice Centenary Grants Program.
St Mary's Catholic Primary School students now have a space where they can go to reflect and remember the sacrifices made by this country's selfless armed service personnel over many years.
The memorial garden was unveiled at a ceremony on Friday after the school community took part in mass led by Father Kevin Njoku of St Mary's Catholic Parish.
St Mary's College financial secretary Kym Neuendorff said construction of the area was made possible by an Armistace Centenary Grant through Veterans Affairs. "We wanted an area that the kids could visit when they need to pay their respects," she said. "It's a gorgeous space. It is vitally important the children remember and they can use the memorial garden any time they need to reflect."
The cenotaph features a plaque which had previously been attached to a rock found at another location on campus.
