St Andrews War Memorial Presbyterian ChurchPrint Page Print this page

The church was erected as a war memorial in memory of those from the district who served in Wold War One and World War Two. The foundation stone was laid on 29 September 1957 and the church was opened and dedicated on 22 March 1958.

Three stained glass windows are located inside the bell tower alcove of the church. Each window depicts a full-sized religious figure within a Biblical scene. At the base of each window is the inscription, dedicated to those who made the Supreme Sacrifice in the First and Second World Wars. Above the inscriptions are the insiginas of the three service branches, the Army, Royal Australian Air Force (R.A.A.F.) and Navy, one per window.

Hanging on the same wall as the windows are two honour rolls. One commemorates the First World War and the other commemorates both the First and Second World Wars. The church also contains a series of plaques and gifts which were given by the relatives of fallen soldiers.
