The monument commemorates those from Leopold and surrounding districts who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.

The final stages of the monument were completed in 2021 and the finishing touches included silhouettes of veterans featured on the outer walls of the pavilion and a plaque listing the names of individuals and organisations who made major contributions to its construction.
