The War Memorial commemorates those who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.

The project to construct the Craigieburn War Memorial was commenced on the 30 December 2014 with the formation of the Craigieburn War Memorial and Remembrance Committee Incorporated (CWMRC).  The CWMRC, in a joint project with Hume Council, selected the location for the Memorial in the new town park (later named ANZAC Park) that was then under construction.

Council and the CWMRC covered the cost of the monument on a dollar for dollar basis.  It was constructed by Glory Marble and Granite Pty Ltd of Thomastown, Victoria, and construction commenced on the 16th of February 2017 and was completed on the 31st of March 2017.  The Memorial gardens were designed and laid out by Hume Council.

The monument was dedicated on the 2nd of April 2017 and consecrated by Army Chaplains of the 4 Combat Services Battalion, Broadmeadows.  The inaugural ANZAC Day Service (10 am) was held on the 25 of April 2017 and the first Dawn Service on the 25th of April 2018.  Service obelisks dedicated to the Royal Australian Navy, the Australian Army, the Royal Australian Air Force and the Australian Merchant Navy were installed on the 28th of February 2018.

Dedication plaques listing the names of World War One and World War Two veterans who enlisted from Craigieburn, plus those of World War Two veterans who attended the Dedication Service, were installed on the 13th of March 2018.

The monument is owned and maintained by the City of Hume with the CWMRC responsible for the planning and conduct of Remembrance Services.
