The hall commemorates the soldiers from the district who served in World War One. The hall was extensively damaged by fire in November 2015 and reopened in 2018 when repairs were completed. 

The School of Arts and Memorial Hall at Bald Hills was opened last week by the Minister for Public Instruction (Mr J Huxham). The secretary (Mr A. D. Stewart) stated that the building when complete would have cost approximately £700. Brigadier-General Spencer Browne unveiled a memorial tablet. Mr H. K. Sizer MLA, delivered an address.
