The Monaro War Memorial Library building was erected in memory of those who have served in conflicts in which Australia has been involved.

The Monaro Regional Library Committee has asked the State Government for a grant towards establishing new central library premises in Vale Street, Cooma. The new War Memorial Library building, which cost about £30,000, was opened by the N.S. W. Minister for Health, Mr. Sheahan, a few weeks ago. The committee chairman, Cr. R. M. Kingston, said today it was hoped applications for an increase in the Government subsidy would bear fruit soon. Without further financial assistance the library was faced with a difficult task to continue to provide the full and adequate service which could reasonably be in spected by the community.
