ANZAC Centenary MosaicsPrint Page Print this page

The series of mosaics commemorates the centenary of the ANZAC (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) landings at Gallipoli in Turkey in April 1915 during World War One.

The project, sponsored by Blacktown City Council and the Australian Government Anzac Centenary Local Grants Program, was led by Jan Cleveringa and Abbas Makrab. The series of mosaics, located in Dawson Mall at Mount Druitt, commemorates the Centenary of Anzac. The work was unveiled on 8 December 2015 by Emeritus Mayor Charles (Charlie) Lowles. The largest circle, made of black tiles, is designed to make the viewer think about war, loss and grief. A yellow tile, placed among the black tiles, represents sand from Gallipoli.
