South African (Boer) War MemorialPrint Page
The monument commemorates volunteers from the district who died in service or were killed in action during the South African (Boer) War. The memorial is an obelisk with a lamp mounted on the top.
The monument that is being erected to the memory of Rylstone boys who fell in the late Boer war will soon be completed, and I think the unveiling of it should be commemorated in a fitting manner by some magnate. It has been a long-winded job, and having waited so long for its completion the public are entitled to expect from the committee some sort of befitting display at its dedication.
