The wooden honour roll commemorates those from Leyburn and District who served in World War Two.

LEYBURN: In spite of the heavy storm, a large crowd gathered in the Leyburn hall, for the unveiling of the War Memorial of boys and girls who enlisted from Leyburn and district. The hall and stage was tastefully decorated with lovely flowers and greenery.  Mrs Hamblin (president of the Leyburn branch of the Q.C.W.A.) received the guests on their arrival, wearing a blue frock, bodice beaded and roll collar. Among the official guests present were Mrs Neilson, Mrs D. Hutton, Mr O. Madsen, M.L.A., Mr and Mrs Cyril Kirby (Nambour), Mr and Mrs E. Humphreys, Mr and Mrs W. H. Kirby, Mrs Linnett (Clifton).  Seven small girls—Cath Griesheimer, Janet Coleborn, Barbara Rauchle, Valma Hamblln, Judith Meiser, Lorraine McGee—presented shoulder posies to the ladies on the stage. Mrs Neilson presided.

Mrs Neilson thanked Mr Kirby and the organisers for asking her to take the chair. She expressed her pleasure at such a good crowd and spoke of the work done by all the Leyburn boys. Mr Linnett spoke for the Leyburn branch of the C.W.A. which organised the function, and congratulated the people of Leyburn and district for erecting an honour board.  Other speakers were Messrs Madsen and E. Humphreys, and Mrs Hutton. Mr Cyril Kirby, a Digger of the first war, and a native of Leyburn was then asked to unveil the honour board and Mr R. D. Reid then read the 40 names out while Messrs Cyril and Kevin Ezzy sang "Lest We Forget." Mrs Hamblin thanked Mrs Neilson for presiding and' Mr Albert Klrby thanked the public for the honour paid to himself and his comrades that evening.
