Establishment of Army Staging CampPrint Page
The plaque commemorates the Army Staging Camp and the personnel who passed through the area during World War Two.
The plaque is on the gates forming the entrance to the Oval.
During World War Two, the Terowie station was involved in many convoy activities. All northward trans-shipping passed through Terowie and many hundreds of servicemen and tons of machinery changed from one train to another. Because of the numbers of men passing through, a large although temporary Army Staging Camp was built at Terowie.
