Smales Park

Named 25 May 1995

This parkland was named in honour of the pioneering Smales family who began hauling timber to the West Burleigh Sawmill with their bullock team in the 1920`s and later took up banana growing and dairy farming.

This parkland is part of the former "Reidvale" dairy farm operated by Edward Smales and his wife, Violet whose father, Nelson Reid first took up the land in 1886.
