Robert Day Memorial PoolPrint Page Print this page

Memorial Pool commemorates the first Chairman of Mandurah Shire Council.

In 1965 Mandurah’s bathing sheds were demolished and the Robert Day Memorial Pool constructed. The stone and cement pool had a boardwalk/jetties at the northern and southern sides, the foreshore to the east, and was open to the western side. It also had a diving board and brick changing sheds, which have only recently been demolished. It was named after the first Chairman of Mandurah’s Shire Council, who died in an accident in 1963. The pool was demolished after the new and long-awaited aquatic centre opened in 1982.
