This garden is named in honour of Charles Thomas Newman. J.P.

Councillor and Alderman, Corporation of the City of Unley 
July 1955 to June 1971.

Member, Board of Trustees, Centennial Park Cemetery Trust
April 1957 to June 1971.

His outstanding qualities of energy, enthusiasm, imagination and compassion have been put to excellent use, in service to  the community

The C. T. Newman Memorial Garden

This beautiful garden was planned, design and constructed by the management and staff, Centennial Park Cemetery Trust Incorporated

The Board of Trustees responsible for the approval and financial provision in 1971 consisted of : -
Mayor of Unley : C. Colman Esq, J.P. Chairman
Alderman of Unley : C. T. Newman Esq, J.P. Trustee
Alderman of Unley : J. D. Clayton Esq,  Trustee
Alderman of Mitcham : J. O. Whicker Esq, J.P. Trustee
Councillor of Mitcham : A. L. Hood Esq, J.P. Trustee

Concept and Planning : Major W. R. M. Dunkley, General Manger : Major L. P. Clayton, Manager Crematorium was finalised and presented to the Board of Trustees as part of a 10 year garden development plan in August 1971

Design : Major CLayton, and survey : S. V. Mitchell, Foreman or Works and Technical Advisor W. E. D. Hay, commenced in 1973

Construction and landscaping commenced in March 1975 and was completed in January 1982.  Those involved were
