A plaque commemorates trailblazer and prospector, George Clarke. 

In 1886 George Clarke reported and applied for a prospecting claim which he named “Coupe,” and which was situated on the high lands of the Russell stream. Clarke’s discovery was reported to the Herberton Warden.
