A sculpture commemorates the Bicentennial of the European settlement of Australia.

The Bicentenary marked the 200th anniversary of the arrival of the First Fleet in Sydney in 1788. Captain Arthur Phillip (1738–1814), commander of the First Fleet, established the foundations of a British colony at Sydney Cove on the 26 January 1788.

Representing the past, present and future of Sandringham.

An Australian Bicentennial project with the financial assistance of the Federal and State Governments and the City of Sandringham.

Project artist, Mr Peter Stitt, co-ordination by Beaunaris Rotary Club, assistance from Gutterridge Haskin and Davey (consultants) and Nylex Corporation.

Unveiled by the Mayor of Sandringham, Councillor Pauline Reynolds, on 19th June, 1988, on behalf of the Residents and Councillors of the City of Sandringham
