The tablet, erected in State's centenary year, commemorates the pioneers of Katanning and District.
On Tuesday evening last, a pioneers reunion dinner was held which was arranged by the Katanning Road Town Hall. Before the dinner over 100 guests, assembled in the lobby of the hall, and the chairman of the board (Mr. Alex Prosser) called on Mrs. A. Thomson to unveil a memorial granite tablet erected to perpetuate the memory of the early pioneers. At the dinner the following toasts were honoured:— ''The King," "Parliament", "Old Pioneers" , "The Katanning District", "The Local Governing Body," ''The Press," and "The Chairman."
