Bindi Bindi Water Supply Print Page Print this page

Memorial commemorating the opening of the water supply by the Minister for Water resources, Ernie Bridge on 26th February 1988.

Until 1988 the town and surrounding community of Bindi Bindi did not have a reticulated water supply. After many years of lobbying by Doug Tierney of the Rural Water Council and the Moora Shire and with the help of Ernie Brdge, water was finally piped from Balidu to Bindi Bindi. It is an extension of the Goldfields and Agricultural water Supply scheme. It was turned on 113 years after settlement. The Bindi Bindi community supplied machinery and labour to bring the water pipeline from Miling to Bindi Bindi (16kms).
