The cairn commemorates the pioneer women of Wycheproof and District.

WYCHEPROOF, Friday.— Wycheproof branch of the Country Women's Association officially opened the cairn erected on the Calder Highway, and dedicated to the pioneer women of the district. Mrs. Ingram, the president, explained to a large gathering the object of the monument. She said that whilst appreciating, the work of the women, they were not unmindful of the splendid work of the pioneer men, which they might honor, at a later date. Mrs. L. Meney, of Towanini district, who is 94 years of age. was given the honor of declaring the cairn open, which she did amidst great enthusiasm.
