Chinaman`s TrackPrint Page
The route of the Old Adelaide Road through Roses Gap in the Grampians was used by travelers from South Australia to Victoria during the 19th century.
The route was also used by Chinese gold seekers in the 1850s, who were restricted in landing directly at Melbourne. It is not known whether the ‘Chinaman’s Track’ marked on Grampians maps is the same route. A monument at Troopers Creek marks the spot where mounted police checked the papers of interstate travelers.
