Survey Cairn placed by Assistant Surveyor King and is located near the highest point of Merredin Peak placed there during his 1889-90 expedition. King made trigonometrical surveys from the top of the highest peaks in the area, marking the point on his map with his initials and a number - in this case 189 - and the actual position with a sapling placed in the centre of a store cairn.
