Monument was brought to Melbourne as gift to commemorate the 40th Eucharist Congress.
The International Eucharistic Congresses primarily manifest faith and thanksgiving towards Jesus Christ in his eucharistic mystery. They are a privileged expression of the Church`s world-wide communion in that they proclaim and pray for the gift of unity and peace, as is evident in the choice of these themes so often in the history of the congresses
