The plaque commemorates the traditional ancestors of the Birpai Nation. The Birpai people occupied the area prior to European settlement in 1821.

In memory of the Traditional Ancestors of Birpal Nation.

Here beneath lie the remains of Birpal peopledated approx 1850 years old

The Birpal numbered over 6000 in population prior to the European settlement of Port Macquarie in 1821 Birpal Tribal boundaries include all of the Hastings district  Wauchope  Port Macquarie and the Camden Haven 

The discovery is evidence of the Aboriginal occupation of the area before contact with British colonisation
