Volunteer Recognition Wall

2001

Volunteers, ordinary people, extraordinary contribution.  Real people, real heroes.

The monument focuses on the behind the scenes theme.  The two curtain forms, of volunteers of Australia, emanating  from Chinchilla and District, indicated beside the International Year symbol.

The volunteer symbol is positioned at the bottom step of the stairway, symbolising the start of the journey a person takes  in volunteering.

While the wall represents the shape of Australia, the steps also symbolise the journey of Australia, since Federation ; and  the corrugated iron the durable and reliable rural environment.

The teamwork required for success is expressed by the figurines joining hands and pushing forward to achieve their  goals.

Colours reflect the hue of the Australian continents sky, plains, fields and ranges.
