 2/2nd Australian Pioneer Battalion
Formed at Puckapunyal Victoria on 16th May 1940 under the command of Lt Col. N. F. Wellington MC VD.  Embarked from Sydney on 9th April 1941 for the Middle East.  Served in Palestine Lebanon and Syria.  924 officers and men taken prisoners of war in Java on 8th March 1942.  Remainder of battalion brought back to strength in Australia under the command of Lt Col. J. T. Lang.  Unit then served in New Guinea  Tarakan  and Balikpapan.
Dedicated at Austin & Repatriation
Medical Centre on 17th June 1998.  
In memory of all departed members.  
LEST WE FORGET

2/3rd Australian Machine Gun Battalion
Formed on 17th June 1940 at Wayville S.A. under the command of Lt. Col. A. S. Blackburn V.C.  Embarked from Woodside on 8th April 1941 for the Middle East.  Served in Palestine Lebanon and Syria.  710 officers and men taken prisoner of war in Java on 8th March 1942.   Remainder of battalion reinforced in Australia under the command of Lt. Col. R. R. Gordon.  Unit then served in New Guinea, Merauke, Aitape and Wewak.  
Presented to Austin & Repatriation Medical Centre
on 24 April 1998.
