The plaque commemorates those who served in the 2nd / 9th, 2nd / 10th and 2nd / 12th infantry Battalions which formed the 18th Brigade during World War Two.

The plaque location is indicated by a red poppy in the second image.

18th Brigade
7th Division, AIF

Formed in October 1939, the Brigade comprised the 2 / 9th, 2 / 10th and 2 / 12th Battalions.  

In 1940 it served in Britain, and in 1941 it campaigned in the Middle East at Giarabub, Tobruk, and Syria.  

In Papua in 1942 it participated in the first land defeat of the Japanese at Milne Bay, and captured Goodenough Island.  

Later it fought at the the bloody victories at Buna and Sanananda.  

In 1944 it fought in the victory in the Finisterre Range and in 1945 in the successful landing at Balikpapan, Borneo.

Dedicated in memory of all who served
