HMAS Manoora.

HMAS Manoora was commissioned as a landing ship infantry on the 2nd February 1943. She was refitted to carry 25 landing craft, a crew of 600 and accommodation for 1200 troops and their equipment.

During April and May 1943, Manoora began amphibious training in Port Phillip Bay with the American 1st Marines Division, participating in dawn landings of Safety Beach, Dromana.

Manoora later became part of the American 7th Amphibious Task Force and took part in eight D`Day assault landings in the South West Pacific
