Newrybar, Knockrow & Brooklet Roll of Honour (World War Two)Print Page
The wooden honour roll commemorates those from the district who served in World War Two.
An honour roll bearing the names of men and women in the Newrybar, Knockrow and Brooklet areas who served in the fighting forces of World War II was unveiled and dedicated at Newrybar School of Arts. Despite adverse weather, a large crowd was present. Mr. W. S. Boorman was chairman. The President of Newrybar R.S.L. (Mr. E. Dickson), assisted by the Vice-President (Mr. P. James), unveiled the roll. Rev. C. Saunders performed the dedication ceremony. On behalf of the sub-branch, the President of Tintenbar Shire (Cr. E. C. Payne) presented framed photographs of three servicemen who lost their lives to their next-of-kin. Solos were given by Mrs K, Leeson. Mr. V. Snow, and Mr. A.Kibblewhite. Mr. J. Foster sounded "The Last Post" and "Reveille."
