The wooden honour roll commemorates those who served in World War One.

Birchip Shire Council. From the Education Department, in connection with the celebration of Empire Day on 24th May, 1917, inviting the co-operation of the council and the school committee in arranging for local celebrations, and asking to be favored with a reply by the 12th May as to any action the council proposes to take.

Cr. Lilburne said Messrs S. Sampson, M.H.R, and W. Hutchinson, M.L.A., had been written to asking them to be present to unveil the honor roll. He anticipated that Mr Sampson would be present, and, on behalf of the school committee, he extended a hearty welcome to all councillors. It was decided that all councillors who could attend should do so.
