The Clock in the Merredin Town Hall was dedicated in memory of the fallen soldiers of World War One.

The memorial tablet was unveiled by Brigadier-General Bessell Browne D.S.O., C.M.G., V.D., on Anzac Day 1928.
The West Australian, 18th November 1924, The Daily News (Perth) 2nd May 1928.

THE CLOCK IN THIS TOWER WAS ERECTED BY THE RESIDENTS OF THE DISTRICT IN MEMORY OF THOSE SOLDIERS WHO LAID DOWN THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1918 THIS TABLET WAS UNVEILED BY BRIGADIER-GENERAL A.. J. BESSELL-BROWNE C.B., C.M.G., D.S.O., V.D., (F) ON 25TH APRIL 1928.
