Railwaytown World War One MemorialPrint Page Print this page

Memorial stone and plaque commemorate the 44 men from Railwaytown (Broken Hill) who died in the Great War.  The tribute was first proposed in 1919, however, money for the project was short and the concept was shelved until 96 years later when the community collaborated to raise the funds. Mawson`s donated a granite stone from its Broken Hill Quarry to the RSL for the memorial.
