A wooden honour roll commemorates former students who served in World War One.

Thursday last was quite a gala day for Lang Lang, the occasion being the unveiling of the honor rolls at the State School and Mechanics' Institute. The former contained the names of 47 past pupils, most of which were included in the larger honor roll. The Returned Soldiers' District Band, which arrived by an early train, rendered selections during the day, under Bandmaster J. Robottom, which were much appreciated. From an early hour the business people were busy decorating their shops with the flags of the Allied nations, which gave the place quite a gay appearance. The school children marched from the hall shortly after two o'clock, after which the ceremony of unveiling the State School honor roll took place, a speech being made by Captain Bruce, M.H.R., M.C., ex-Sergt. Williams, and others. The unveiling of the honor roll was performed by Mr E. Keighery. The school children, who appeared to be well tutored under their teacher (Mr Eason), rendered the following songs —"For England," "Flag Song," "Britannia's Glory," "Red, White and Blue," and "Rule Britannia."
