The War Memorial commemorates those from the district who have served in conflicts in which Australia has been involved. The memorial was originally erected in memory of those who served in World War One with the names of those who served in World War Two added at a later date.
Mr. R. J. Doe M.L.A. for Sturt, unveiled a soldiers' memorial at Hermidale last Tuesday. The school children were marched to the memorial, where they saluted the flag and repeated the formula. Alderman H. Evatt, Mayor of Nyngan, presided. Mr. Doe gave an appropriate address, and after that the school children, under their teacher, Mr. A. C. Rumph (himself a returned soldier), sang the National Anthem; in which the crowd joined enthusiastically.
