The Mitchell War Memorial was originally erected by the residents to commemorates those who served in World War One. The names of those who died in service or were killed in action in World War Two were added at a later date. 

The War Memorial was unveiled in by Major Thomas Glasgow in 1927. It was designed and produced by monumental masonry firm A. L. Petrie of Toowong, Brisbane and cost £464.
