The park commemorates those who died in service or were killed in action during World Wars One and Two. The gates were repaired and renovated in 1994.

A £3,000 memorial sports ground and children's playground to the memory of those who were killed in two World Wars, has been planned for Kalangadoo. A committee comprising two delegates from every sporting body and organisation in the district has been formed.
