The monument was originally erected in memory of those who served in World War One. It lists the names of those who died in service or were killed in action and those who returned.

The names of those who died in service or were killed in action in World War Two were added at a later date.

Front Inscription

Our honoured dead

"Eternal honour to the true and brave
Who for their native land their life blood gave".

They knew the precious things they had to guard.

[ Names ]

"At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them."


Back Inscription

For remembrance of our men who answered the call of duty in the Great War

1914 - 1919

"Deeply graved in every loyal heart.
O never let these names depart."


Right Side Inscription

They played a part

Across the world we marked the score."
