Plaque 1

34,737 Aust. Servicemen and Women have been made prisoners of war from the Boer War, WW1, WW2 and Korea.  (There were no POW`s taken in Veitnam.)  8,600 died in captivity

Plaque 2

This memorial is dedicated to the memory of all the Australian Servicemen and Women who suffered and died as Prisoners of War.  Their motto :- When you go home, tell them of us and say, that we gave our today for your tomorrow.

Lest We Forget.  Unveiled 2003

38 Portland and District Servicemen were taken Prisoners of War.  17 of whom died in captivity - never to see home again.
