The monument commemorates those from Monbulk who died in service or were killed in action in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved.

The monument was a Centenary of Federation Project at the site of an Avenue of Honour which was planted in 1935 to commemorate fallen World War One Soldiers.

In 1935 an Avenue of Honour was planted here to commemorate the men of Monbulk who paid the supreme sacrifice in the First World War

This memorial is a tribute to all those from Monbulk who died while on active service
